“We couldn’t find a retail store that offered premium, curated activewear, let alone a beautifully presented store that we actually wanted to shop at, so we decided to create one.”

Let’s get down to business. When it comes to gym gear, the clothing you pound the pavement in and the activewear that wants you to get sweaty, there are only a few names that rise above the rest in both the local and international fashion market. Case in point? Sali and Julie Stevanja: twin sisters and co-founders of Stylerunner, the first store of its kind to hit the online retail space. Specialising in premium activewear with a fashion focus, Stylerunner offers countless cream-of-the-crop fashion labels, ranging from well-known favourites Nike and Running Bare, to trend trailblazers adidas by Stella McCartney and The Upside.

Since its launch in October 2012, Stylerunner has gained more than 80 000 Instagram followers, is now shipping to 50 countries world-wide and has prompted the twin sisters to create the brother site, StylerunnerMAN to cater to the Stylerunner customer’s equally style-conscious other half. Having recently sponsored the Fashion Stylist of the Year category at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards, the Stevanja sisters aren’t afraid to make their mark in the business world, and do it with a tonne of style.

So what prompted two women with no previous experience in starting a business to create one of the country’s leading E-stores? “As fashion hungry customers, we noticed cool new labels popping up and premium offerings from the major brands that really excited us. We were living in two of the most fashionable cities in the world- London and Sydney- and yet it was really hard to fnd cool, new activewear labels, all in the once place,” says Julie, who works on the strategy and overall vision for the brand.
